Churu is a city and a Lok Sabha constituency in the desert part of Rajasthan. It is also called the Gateway of the Thar Desert. It is the district headquarters of Churu district.
It was founded in 1620 AD by the Nirban Rajputs. Churu was a part of the Bikaner district before India’s independence. In 1948, when it was reorganized, it was separated from Bikaner.

It is a historical fort. A large number of tourists come here to visit. This fort was built by Raja Ratna Singh of Bikaner in 1820 AD. This fort is situated on Agra-Bikaner road.
There are also many havelis around this place. Here the sand dunes keep changing shape and location with the direction of the wind. The city has many beautiful Havelis like Kanhaiya Lal Bangla ki Haveli and Surana Haveli etc., which have thousands of small windows and windows.
These are wonderful examples of Rajasthani architectural style, with frescoes and beautiful chhatris decorations. Near the city is the amphitheater of Nath Sadhus, where the idols of the deities are made. A Dharma-Stupa is also built in this city, which is a symbol of religious equality.

This is the temple of Lord Hanuman. This temple is situated on Jaipur-Bikaner road. Churu is one of the major religious places in India. It is believed that whatever wish is asked here, it gets fulfilled.
Every year two big fairs are organized here. These fairs are held in the month of Chaitra (April) and Ashwin Purnima (October). Lakhs of devotees from all over the country and abroad come here to see Salasar Balaji. This temple is open throughout the year.

Tal Chhapar Sanctuary is located in the Churu district. This place is mainly famous for blackbuck. Many other animals like chinkara, fox, and wild cat as well as many species of birds can be seen in this sanctuary.
The area of this sanctuary is 719 square hectares. And it is also named for the demoiselle cranes. It is located near Chhapar town in the Churu district. It was given the status of a sanctuary on 11th May 1966.
